The 2011 Miss USA pageant was organized not long ago in Las Vegas.  They were among the very best pageant competitions the organization has had in a while.  There were some stunning ladies battling for the name of Miss USA.  And after all was said and done it was Miss California who ran away with the crown and prizes.

As a fashion designer for Darius Cordell Designs for well over the past decade clearly my favorite part of the entire competition is the evening gown category.  This year did not disappoint in that section of the contest.  This year showcased some of the most elegant evening dresses in comparability to years past.  One of my preferred pageant gowns was put on by the winner, Miss Ca.  Her evening wear was a pretty shade of green that truly complimented her unnatural red hair color.  An additional genuinely fabulous formal wear piece was worn by Miss Maine.  We all genuinely imagined she may have landed it to the top 5.  But however the "celebrity" judges considered otherwise.  Nevertheless, Miss Maine's evening gown was a spectacular black with one side nude with grey metallic and black beading in a vine pattern.  It was a throw back to most styles made in the 90's but it was well done.  It reminded me of most of the Darius Cordell styles we did in the early nineties.

I additionally seen that in the recent many years the evening wear section has become more runway rather than becoming a lot more pageantry.  The vast majority of the pageant dresses all had a much more attractive experienced glimpse to them instead of individuals basic pageant attire.  And even though beaded evening gowns are ususally used for pageant styles....there were still many evening gowns in the contest that were far more material oriented.  This typically means they are far less expensive as well.  For most folks know the heavier the bead work the greater the cost.  Whatever the reason for the obvious tweak I still feel for the most part each of the pageant dresses proven there on the stage were genuinely rather lovely .

One aspect of the competition that has certainly not seriously entreated to me is the swim suit competition.  More times than not these women merely appear quite skinny and sickly.  I comprehend becoming physically fit but most of them look malnourished.  Watching someones skeleton is not sexy to me one bit.  But there were some women who managed to pull off the tone look and still have a bit of fleshiness to them - making them appear more feminine and shapely.

The last piece of the contest of course is the intelligence portion where the women can show where they have any intelligence.  Interestingly enough I thought that Miss Tx answered her inquiries relatively well and was deserving of becoming in the top 2.  Once again, these "celebrity" judges believed otherwise.

There were a few ladies I was shocked that did not make it into the finals of the Miss USA pageant.  Miss Arizona was one of them.  She was among the most stunning contestants there that night .  Which is most likely why she won the best photo.  At any rate, when the pageant came to a close everyone here at Darius Cordell was happy with the result and truly believed Miss California was the one to win the coveted crown!
